September 23rd
Tom, Ed, and I climb Pyramid Peak. It's only a six mile hike but with a 4,000 vertical foot climb and decent. It's a thigh burner, that's for sure
Dr. Tom looking over at Lover's Leap
It's a four thousand foot climb within three miles. It's a fast way to wake up early in the morning
You warm up quickly. We started out at 37 degrees but it got up to 73 by the end of the hike
Looking over to Kirkwood / Our first snow
Then we hit a tropical forest of ferns
Great views / Snow in September????
up and up and up.... will it ever end?
See Pat's really on this hike / Pyramid Peak
This last part is really difficult. Lots of loose rocks to manuever over
We put our poles away and climb on all four
it's exhausting / lots of rest stops
Finally at the top
Relaxing at 10,000 feet
Sharing food and enjoying the views
And the views are magnificent
Looking across to the back of Mt. Tallac and Aloha Lakes / Looking down on Sierra at Tahoe
Then the trip down
Great views going down too.
back through the snow and tropical fern garden
duck
almost done
oops! Someone fell down and broke his pole. It would have kill a normal person.
The best part of the hike
Thanks Tome for a great hike and cold beer at the end / Even Pat gets to have beer too.
