We start the month off with a Taco Tuesday at the Pali Pad History of "Pohl" Tacos Our daughter Tammy came across an old photo below (circa 2001). It was the last time we had "original" Pohl Tacos. The last time because we made them with Hunts Chili Beans. Tammy is holding the can with her sad face as husband Pat and Ali join in the last supper. BTW that's our grandson Reed in the baby chair. Hunts quit producing beans around 2000. We held on to this last can of Hunt's Chili Beans for as long as we could. Then made our last batch of "Pohl" Tacos. What's unique about "Pohl Tacos" was we made the dinner for 4, for under $1. In the early 50's, Pat's mom would give him a dollar and he bought a pound of hamburger for .39 cents, can of beans .17 ,cents a dozen tortillas 10 cents, tomato 10 cents, and a head of lettuce for 15 cents. We already had graded cheese and mayonnaise. Put it all together and the magic begins. Today we still celebrate Taco Tuesday in Lake Tahoe with the Tahoe Tuesday Gang. A tradition that was kept alive because of Pat's other daughter Nechia & husband Dan Miller. They call their tacos "Mohl" Tacos. The Lake Tahoe "Taco" Tuesdays began in January of 2009 at the Pali Pad and now are all over the Lake.

9-11 - Never forget With all the frustration and angry going around, it was nice to watch something that made me feel proud of America again. This is a very emotional and sad video done to one of my favorite songs. Sounds of Silence.

Tennis News for 9/16/20 We had a get together with the tennis gang to remember two players who had heart attacks this week and died on the courts. On Monday we lost Grant and today we lost RJ on the smokiest day ever in Tahoe. Very strange and sad week for us
Grant and RJ R.I.P.
Remembering Grant With sad hearts, we share that Grant Thompson passed away this morning while playing tennis at ZCTC. A friend to everyone, Grant was an amazing fun-loving guy who lived life to the fullest. Grant was on the ZCTC Foundation's Board of Directors since its inception and was running for another term. He selected the above photo his profile, saying it was one of his favorites. His member profile (that previously was shared in June) is included below. We send our love to Grant's wife, Maggie, their three daughters, and the rest of Grant's family and friends. Remembering R.J. Gardner We are saddened to lose ZCTC member, R.J. Gardner, who collapsed while playing tennis this morning at ZCTC. He was attended to by paramedics but unfortunately later passed away. R.J. was retired as an officer and fighter pilot/jet navigator from the Air Force. He was graduated from Berkeley in physics and was raised in San Francisco. His passions were tennis and flying. He also was an avid poker player. He is survived by two daughters and a son.We will miss him greatly and extend our sympathies to his family and friends.
Sometimes you just get lucky. On my way home from the skin doctor, I stopped at Dottie's. I usually only bet anywhere from one to nine quarters on this slot machine. For some reason I bet 45 quarters at one time. I know. Crazy right? I got lucky with 5 yellow flowers in a row flowers and won $2,500 dollars.
Ali went down to Modesto and visited her sisters and old friends Terry
And yet, still another rendition of one of my favorite songs. "Sounds of Silence by Pentatonix.
The Heavy Breathers are at it again. This time it's the Upper Truckee Marsh Hike Markus, Theresa, Bev, and the Pats
.More luck at the casinos. 3 big jackpots in 3 days. One I had to make no decision, one was on my last bet.
And then two more jackpots, both in one day. This getting ridiculous
