A hike we've done many times over the years. I remember the first time Ali and I hike it. We started late in the afternoon. Hiking all the way to the waterfall (8 mile round trip). When we got to mile 6 we stopped to admire the sunset. Then we realized the sun was setting and we had no flashlights or water. Rookies. We still had two miles to go which were some of the steepest parts of the trail. We made it slowly, step by step.
Very muddy and slippery day. Run into another old guy (Arun) and his two daughters.
Back in 2000 (26 years ago) Pat and Ali made it all the way to the falls. An eight mile hike.
This was the sunset we watched. Then realized we still had two miles to hike. In the dark. No flashlight.
